Hey Reader
This week, we're talking about how to get started now and stop tweaking the perfect long-term plan. I also have a quick AI tip. If someone forwarded this newsletter to you, you can get it every week here.
Forget the 5-Year Plan
You don’t need a five-year plan if you haven’t even made your first dollar online.
I bet you’ve been on a webinar with one of the big-name influencers. They tell you to make a vision board, set a 7-figure income goal, and “think bigger.”
But let’s be honest. Even when everyone else in the chat says their goal is $10M a year, you aren’t buying it. Yes, of course, it’s possible.
But if your real goal is to stop feeling trapped in a 9-to-5 job or a small business you don't love, those million-dollar plans can actually hold you back.
The truth is, you don’t need to dream bigger.
You just need to START!
What’s your number?
Instead of chasing someone else’s idea of success, ask yourself:
What’s the dollar amount that would give me breathing room right now?
Maybe it’s $1,000 a month, allowing you to work one day less a week.
Or perhaps it’s $3,000 to match your small business income and finally unchain yourself from a physical location.
Maybe it’s just enough to stop feeling anxious at the end of each month.
Start there. That’s a real goal you can work toward and actually believe in.
One-year freedom plan
Once that pressure starts to lift, you’ll think more clearly about what’s next.
So instead of a five-year plan, what about a one-year freedom plan?
What would you love your life to look like one year from now?
- What if you could work from anywhere in the world?
- Or what about staying home with your kids without sacrificing your income?
- What if you could finally say yes to long lunches, weekday beach walks, or a spontaneous trip?
A business designed with you in mind
Here’s what my list looked like when I got serious about starting over:
- Work from anywhere (ideally by the ocean).
- No vlogging. I wasn’t interested in creating the next big sailing channel.
- Use automation and systems to earn without being “on” all the time.
- Few deadlines, minimal meetings.
- No employees to manage.
Your version might look different, and that’s really the point.
Your freedom business doesn’t have to follow anyone else’s formula.
It simply needs to align with your values, skills, and lifestyle goals.
Don't be afraid to try something new
You don’t have to bet everything on one idea.
In fact, you probably shouldn’t.
Pick a few business ideas you’d genuinely like to try over the next 12 months. Think of this as a test lab for your future.
Want to write? Try a newsletter paired with one solid social media channel.
Prefer video? Try a YouTube channel.
Have a product idea? Set up a funnel and test it to see how it works.
You will probably find, like me, that your business becomes a combination of a few different things.
I build websites and create AI automations for clients while developing other parts of my online business. And I have a network marketing team.
For you, it might be teaching online while you try out other ideas.
Or doing graphic design projects for clients while you build and promote an online store.
Do what helps you meet your income goals faster, while providing the flexibility you need.
It has never been easier (or cheaper) to start an online business.
Just keep in mind that the goal is not to pick the perfect business.
The goal is to learn what works and finish something.
Pick one project to finish in 90 days
Here’s where it all comes together.
Once you’ve thought through what you want and what you don’t, the next step is to pick one project to start and finish within the next 90 days.
Just one.
That’s exactly what we’ll walk through in my live workshop at the end of June.
I’ll help you choose a project, break it down, and move it from idea to done without overwhelm or overthinking.
If you’ve been stuck in planning mode or feeling behind, this is the reset you need.
Details coming soon.
Until next week,
Tanya
